Hi all\u2026<\/p>\n

A question which comes up regularly when machining vin plates is how do you get the build date?<\/p>\n

Two ways of establishing your build date is to look for the bar code on the front panel like below:<\/p>\n

or<\/p>\n

Check your boot sticker\u2026<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

More often than not the sticker looks like above\u2026<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So to decode it: \u201923 \u2013 4\u2032 are the week of the year and day of the week in that order.<\/p>\n

Days of the week are calculated from Monday to Sunday therefore Monday is \u20181\u2019, Tuesday \u20182\u2019 and so on. This\u00a0is \u20184\u2019 which is Thursday.<\/p>\n

The weeks themselves are calculated from the 1st January regardless of what day of the week this falls on.<\/p>\n

This car was therefore manufactured on Thursday 2nd June 1983.<\/p>\n

The 9615 refers to 9 some internal VW number and the 615 is the product number off the production line. (So I believe)<\/p>\n
